Player of the Week – Notes of Interest
Malik Alvin continued to pace the Shaw offense this week, averaging 22 points a game in Shaw’s three victories.
On the week, he shot for 65.7 percent, including 52.9 percent from beyond the three-point arc. In Shaw’s 103-89 win over Chowan, Alvin scored 28 points – the fourth time this season he hit the 28-point mark. He also added six assists in that performance.

Rookie of the Week – Notes of Interest
Bethel averaged 24.5 points in two games this week (WSSU/Shaw). He was 11-20 (55%) from three-point territory and 18-32 (56%) from the floor. Bethel currently leads the CIAA in three-point percentage.
COACH OF THE WEEK
Bobby Collins, Winston-Salem State University
Collins kept the WSSU Rams rolling, with a 3-0 week. He led his team to a home win over #12 Bowie State (70-69) and road wins over Chowan (71-66) and Elizabeth City State (63-60) to move the Rams to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in the CIAA.

Player of the Week – Notes of Interest:
Lynch averaged 23.5 points and nine rebounds a game this week. She was 10-12 from the free throw line to put her at 86% at the line this season. Against Shaw, Lynch scored 27 points (including five threes) and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Newcomer of the Week – Notes of Interest:
Keianna Evans averaged 12.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and three steals to help the Lady Falcons go 3-0 this past week. In addition to the 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals in a win over Virginia State, Evans had 12 points, seven rebounds against Bowie State and nine points, five rebounds and four steals against Virginia Union.

Rookie of the Week – Notes of Interest:
Curtis, the nation’s leading freshman in blocked shots, broke her own school record with nine blocks against Shaw. Through 14 games, she has blocked 45 shots. She also averaged 10.5 rebounds per game this week.
COACH OF THE WEEK
Rachel Bullard, Saint Augustine’s College
Coach Rachel Bullard directed the Lady Falcons to a 3-0 record this past week with victories over Virginia State,Virginia Union and Bowie State. The Lady Falcons are currently on a four-game win streak and are unbeaten in the CIAA with a 4-0 mark. They are ranked fifth in Division II in turnover margin and seventh in the nation in steals.
