VSU Announces Ronald Simms, Jr. as New Head Bowling Coach

Virginia State University announces the hiring of Ronald Simms, Jr. as their new Head bowling coach.  Simms succeeds Arthur Jones who retired after nine years as the Lady Trojans bowling coach.

Prior to coming to VSU, Ronald Simms, Jr. has held many roles as a President, Vice President, Secretary, and as a Tournament Director in the sport of bowling. In over 27 years, Ronald has been very active on and off the lanes. Since 2008, he has served as President for the Greater Richmond Bowling Senate of The National Bowling Association and in 2011, Simms was inducted into the Greater Richmond Bowling Senate Hall of Fame.

Simms, Jr. currently is the Election Chairperson for The National Bowling Association (2008-present), a member of the Policy and Procedures Committee of The National Bowling Association, and is a staffed member of Hammer Bowling (2007 – present). In 2007, Simms placed first in a National Championship Tournament held in Louisville, KY and has bowled (15) 300 games and (3) 800 series in his career.

Aside from his accomplishment on and off the lanes, Simms believes that a lot of life lessons are learned by being a member of a team.  “Lessons that my team will learn early, will not only produce winning teams for years to come but, most importantly, in life.  Together, with God, the Virginia State Lady Trojans bowling team can do all things,” says coach Simms.

Ronald Simms, Jr. is a native of Richmond, VA and a husband and father of three.
