Player of the Week – Notes of Interest:
Aslea Williams averaged a double double in Shaw’s two games this week. In their loss to Johnson C. Smith, Williams had 19 points and pulled in 15 rebounds. Against Fayetteville State, she tossed in 21 points.

Newcomer of the Week – Notes of Interest:
LaMesha Deal recorded a double double in three straight games for the Lady Trojans. She began the week Scoring 16 points with 10 rebounds against Bowie State. Then grabbed 10 more rebounds against Lincoln on the road adding 12 points. Deal finished the week, hitting a career-high 17 points against Chowan and grabbing 15 strong rebounds- also a career-high.

Rookie of the Week – Notes of Interest:
Danielle Ferguson’s 20-point performance led Virginia Union University to a 60-44 win over Elizabeth City State University on February 4 in Barco-Stevens Hall, Richmond, Va. The win gave the Lady Panthers sole possession of first place in the CIAA Northern Division.
COACH OF THE WEEK
Vanessa Taylor, Johnson C. Smith University
JCSU women’s basketball was proven to be the best team in the CIAA this week .The Golden Bulls knocked off Winston-Salem State and Shaw inside Brayboy Gymnasium. Both the Lady Rams and the Lady Bears were unbeaten in the conference and in the Southern Division before running into Johnson C. Smith. The Golden Bulls snapped a 10-game winning streak for both WSSU and Shaw; while growing their own winning streak to 10-games now. The Golden Bulls have the best record in the conference at 16-3 overall, 10-0 in the CIAA, and 4-0 in the division. JCSU is the last unbeaten team in the conference and in their division.
