McDonald’s® and Coca-Cola® Partners with CIAA for Unprecedented In-store Promotion
Corporate Powerhouses Help Celebrate 100th Anniversary of Historic Conference
HAMPTON, VA (February 7, 2012) – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) is proud to announce an unprecedented in-store commemorative cup promotion with McDonald’s®, an official partner of the CIAA since 2005, and long-time official partner, Coca-Cola® to celebrate the CIAA’s 100th Anniversary in Charlotte, N.C. on February 28 – March 4, 2012.
“The CIAA, its Board of Directors, member institutions, alumni, students and fans are proud to have the support of McDonald’s and Coca-Cola in celebrating our 100th anniversary”, says Chairman of the CIAA Board of Directors – Dr. Mickey Burnim. “This is a great time for the CIAA as we celebrate 100 years of history and success. This partnership not only raises the awareness of the CIAA, but it also showcases the strength of our brand.”
The CIAA commemorative cup promotion will begin on February 1 and conclude on February 29. Over 12 million keepsake commemorative cups will be produced featuring the official CIAA 100th anniversary logo, McDonald’s and Coca-Cola’s logos and the tag line ‘Come Celebrate 100 years of history’. The promotion will encompass 681 McDonald’s® restaurant locations in three regions in the Mid-Atlantic. Those markets include Richmond, VA; Tidewater (VA) area; Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; Atlanta, GA; Chattanooga, TN; Columbus, GA, and Augusta, GA.

Both companies stepped up their activations this year, and this is one of the most significant and visible aspects of the successful partnership”, stated Micah Fuller, senior vice president at Urban Sports & Entertainment Group (USEG). “They are arguably two of the most recognized brands in sports who’ve come together to help celebrate the CIAA’s 100th anniversary. This shows the power of the CIAA brand.” USEG negotiated the partnership between McDonald’s, Coca-Cola and the CIAA Conference.
