Bobcats Sports & Entertainment Names Kim Henderson Vice President of Community Affairs and Executive Director of Cats Care Foundation

June 4, 2012 – Bobcats Sports & Entertainment President & COO Fred Whitfield announced today that Kim Henderson has accepted an executive position with the organization as Vice President of Community Affairs and Executive Director of the Cats Care Foundation. Henderson joins BSE from Presbyterian Hospital/Novant Health, where she most recently served as Senior Director of Corporate Relations and Sponsorships.

“Since our organization’s inception, Kim has played an integral part in helping connect the Bobcats with the Charlotte community through her various roles with Presbyterian Hospital,” Whitfield said. “As an organization we are committed to being a strong corporate citizen. Adding Kim to our senior management team will allow us to take our community relations efforts and foundation development to the next level.”

Henderson is no stranger to BSE, having built and managed Novant’s partnership with the Bobcats since the team’s inaugural season in 2004.  Henderson, who developed and launched Novant’s first dedicated community relations department, joined Presbyterian in 2002 and has worked in the areas of community relations, fundraising, event management, sponsorship and customer service.

“I am looking forward to joining an organization that I have worked so closely with over the last eight years” said Henderson. “I have seen firsthand the team’s passion for community outreach and I am excited to help the Bobcats continue to grow their efforts.”

Henderson will direct the organization’s community relations effort, which was recently re-launched under the name Cats Care. She will also oversee the Cats Care Foundation, the team’s charitable arm focused on bringing lasting and positive change to the Carolinas.  Henderson will report directly to Executive Vice President and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer Pete Guelli.

Carl Scheer, who has served as BSE Senior Advisor for Community Relations for the past two years, will continue in this capacity and will be working closely with Henderson.

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment owns the Charlotte Bobcats and operates Charlotte’s Time Warner Cable Arena.
