Report: Charlotte Bobcats Could be Sold Very Soon
Team could be sold to former Rockets owner by the end of February; Jordan still has a chance to match.

Ric Bucher of ESPN is reporting that former Rockets owner George Postolos has made an offer to buy the Charlotte Bobcats. He is also reporting that Michael Jordan will have the month of February to match the offer and but either way a sale is going to get done. We all have known for some time that Bobcats owner Bob Johnson had been looking to sell the team but nothing was imminent.  Postolos and Jordan have been the two leading candidates for a while and now it looks like something is close to getting done. Now understand that selling the team does not mean moving the team as both of these guys have states that they want to keep the team in Charlotte. This is big news especially with the team playing well and will have a major impact on the team for the future. Bobcat’s fans and people of the city of Charlotte tell us how you feel about this news. Are u happy or upset that Bob Johnson is selling the team? What do you think this means for the team? And what would you like to see the new owner do differently? Let us know what you think right here at Charlottevibe.com and more updates to follow on this story as soon as we get them.

Bobcats are looking good. Decent road trip. Glad Bob Johnson is finally selling. Thanks for getting us a team but now let's get somebody that cares about what the team does.

This looks like this is a pretty hot topic. I want to know from everybody what they want to see the new owner do differently?

Great Move can't wait to see what the new ownership does. Go Bobcats! Anybody but Bob Johnson is an improvement

This team is really going to take off now. Go Bobcats! get that win against the Lakers tonight and finish off the road trip 4-2. Can't wait for them to come home on Saturday.

I am so glad we are making a change in ownership. it had to be done. the team is taking off now and with a new owner the sky is the limit. Now this town can get behind a team and an owner that will be great and really get this city involved.

charlottean wrote on 02/03/2010 7:38 PM CST

they can't logistically move the team out of charlotte and why would you? bob johnson is the number one reason the attendence is so bad. watch how attendence goes up with new ownership and watch the world blame it on the team being better when it has more to do with business practices.

Nunu wrote on 02/03/2010 7:00 PM CST

I'll regret the sale if the team was to be moved out Charlotte, and since this will not happened, I mind the change of ownership. The front office has done a terrible job with draft picked and trades. The best trade this teams has ever had and produce results is the Jackson/Bell-Romanovic trade. Both owner and co-owner are highly visible in Charlotte.........I'll hope that these changes will produced some tangible results for the team and the city(fans).

This team is really playing well right now I hope this goes down smoothly and Jordan buys the team because even though he got off to a bad start him and his staff have made some good moves as of late and I want Larry Brown to stay.

Going with Jordan wrote on 02/03/2010 5:59 PM CST

I surely hope Jordan can buy the team. Postolos already stated that if he gets the bid, Jordan and the staff will not stay. Jordan's decision to bring in Larry Brown has been the best decision for this franchise! I cannot imagine what it would be like if Larry Brown wasn't coaching the 'Cats anymore. Jordan and LB combination has done nothing but great things for this franchise!

Go Bobcats wrote on 02/03/2010 5:56 PM CST

I hope Jordan buys the team. We have a good thing right now and this could only be the start of it.

Bob has done an okay job with the team. He botched on the TV deals b/c I'm still not able to see Bobcats game on DirecTV in greensboro, nc. He hasn't been a terrible owner. It takes time to build a winning team from scratch. I always knew it would take this long to put a winning team on the flloor. We improved each year and that's all you can expect. Now we are 6th in the east! I wouldn't sell until the season ends. The price should increase if we make the playoffs and the fanbase increases. He probably views this as his best chance to sell the team at a decent price. I hope Jordan buys the team and changes the colors. Give it something that represents North Carolina.

PantherDave wrote on 02/03/2010 4:43 PM CST

No longer having Bob Johnson as owner is nothing but positive. There are plenty of Charlotteans that refuse to support him. Though, I hope something could be worked out with LB staying as head coach, even if Jordan doesn't buy. He's done wonders for this team. Go Cats!

Bobcatman wrote on 02/03/2010 4:21 PM CST

Maybe both guys should invest together?! But if i had to choose I rather have Jordan with the Carolina ties!I'd love to see Jordan smoking a big fat cigar as the owner with a NBA championship! Jordan will get better making decisions as time goes on! He has done very well this year!!

Delvis wrote on 02/03/2010 4:14 PM CST

GO BOBCATS!!!!!

Delvis wrote on 02/03/2010 4:13 PM CST

I want Jordan to buy the team. Especially since Postolos is stating that he will not retain the current staff. And that probably include Larry Brown, which would be a serious blow to the organization short and long term. This franchise is on the rise and I would love for Jordan to be the majority owner. I would love to see Jordan add a winning franchise to his legacy. The Bobcats will be a winning franchise for years to come. It very vibrant and I believe the franchise have seen the last of its worse years. It has the potential to became very strong like the Carolina Panthers. On a side note though, I would like for the name to be name of the Bobcats to be changed to the Carolina Bobcats rather than the Charlotte Bobcats. The Bobcats are representing both North and South Carolina. It would bring a new perspective.

Dre wrote on 02/03/2010 4:07 PM CST

Go Bobcats. We really need Gerald tonight hope he plays. Hope we can continue our dominance of the Lakers tonight.

Dustin-Charlottevibe.com wrote on 02/03/2010 4:06 PM CST

One more quick Bobcats update. It looks like the Bobcats could be without Gerald Wallace tonight when the take on the Lakers at 10:30 p.m. Wallace has a pulled hamstring and he says it is pretty sore. He did not participate in shootaround and is a gametime decision. More details to come on this when we get them.

Dustin-Charlottevibe.com wrote on 02/03/2010 4:00 PM CST

Still giving as much updates as possible on this situation. From what I am hearing it sounds like Jordan is very interested in making this purchase but it will come down to the type of investment team he can put together to make this purchase. From what I have heard Postolos is a great guy and would be a good owner but if he purchases the team and gets rid of Jordan and his staff then what does that mean for Larry Brown? Remember Brown said the main reason he came here was because of Jordan.

Anthony wrote on 02/03/2010 3:04 PM CST

I like the fact that Jordan is one of the greatest NBA players, but in terms of business decisions (scratching my head). As long as they stay here in Charlotte. I'm good.......

Tonya wrote on 02/03/2010 1:14 PM CST

I hope we beat the Lakers tonight. Go Bobcats!

Chris wrote on 02/03/2010 12:44 PM CST

Hope Jordan buys the team so Larry Brown will stay. He has made this team great.

Dustin-Charlottevibe.com wrote on 02/03/2010 11:58 AM CST

Just got new details on this story. Apparently Postolos made an offer before but was turned down. But now his offer has been accepted but Jordan still has the chance to match. This is a huge decision for Jordan because reports are saying that if Postolos does get the team that he will not retain Jordan or any of his staff. So it is a wait and see game to see if Jordan can find a way to buy this team. Stay tuned for more details.

Jason wrote on 02/03/2010 11:42 AM CST

This is some big news. Don't know a lot about this Postolos guy but not sure if i want him or MJ owning the team. But I think it will be better without Bob Johnson.
